HOW FUNDS HELP OUR COMMUNITY
Coney Island is a neighborhood located on the southernmost tip of Brooklyn, NY, home to over 50,000 residents with a poverty rate close to 30%. The Coney Island Polar Bear Club New Year's Day Plunge helps raise funds to support the local organizations in our community that are helping to make a difference. Some of those organizations include the New York Aquarium, Alliance for Coney Island, Coney Island History Project, the Coney Island YMCA, and a variety of others with initiatives that range from producing our free public programming, such as Friday Night Fireworks, to educational resources for our local youth, workforce development programs to connect our residents to job opportunities, as well as advocacy for clean water and education about waste in our oceans and the impact it has. The registration fee for this event is $0, and you do not have to pay to register, but we would appreciate your donation if you can. Every dollar helps, and we truly appreciate your support!
