Soon after joining the team Unbridled in July of 2022, I met Jennifer Kamins, CMP, HMCC, CMM during a trip to San Diego. It was shortly after that, during new-hire orientation, that I learned of the tragic loss of her son Cash and the creation of Love Hard. Now, each year, the Love Hard 5k is organized as a way to honor Cash and help raise funding for families affected by similar tragedies.
In March of 2023, my wife, Annie, and I created Team Russell's Runners in honor of her baby cousin Russell Belcher, who passed away unexpectedly.
Now, we're back for year 3 of Russell's Runners and hoping to build on our previous two years to help more families in need.
I was blessed to be the beneficiary of playtimes with Russell when Annie and I would travel back to St. Louis. As most rambunctious 2-year-old children can do, he was always still ready to play by the time I was wiped out. Russell lived life with the biggest smile on his face and a personality as "big as the sun" as his big sister, Aubrey, likes to say.
So, with the blessing of his family and in honor of Russell Belcher, Team Russell’s Runners is back for round 3 of the 5th Annual Love Hard 5k Fun Run! We're going to run, walk, hopefully laugh, maybe cry a bit, and most importantly, raise money along the way.
