Welcome to Team DelGoder!!!!
This team was formed around our matriarch, Amy DelCastillo. The name DelGoder comes from a combination of the names DelCastillo, Goshow and Yoder......life-long family and friends. Amy battled breast cancer for 10 years, and while she passed in January 2020, cancer did not beat her. Instead, she lived, laughed and loved, while battling cancer. It wasn't easy, but she did not let it rule her.
This year's ride takes on a new focus.
Amy was inflicted with a rare genetic cancer called BRCA2. This is an inherited gene mutation that was likely the cause of Beth and Amy's mom's cancer that took her at the age of 38.
We just recently learned that Jenna (Amy's daughter) who rode with us on two occasions has tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation.
What does this mean? Well, I am only going to focus on the hope side of things.....
With proactive surveillance, preventive surgeries, and targeted treatments, significantly improved survival rates and normal life expectancies can be achieved.
That is my hope and prayer.
With that, our focus shifts to the fight. And this is one way we can fight........by riding our bikes as family and friends, raising money and awareness, and spurring on better treatments and a cure.
So, thanks for considering a donation to Team DelGoder or any one of the riders.
Brian (the Team Captain)
