Great BBQ Picnic #2

The (Slightly) Offbeat Traveler’s Guide to:
Picnic #2 @ The FLPW Reunion
Hosted by Don Watt & Tyler Watt (the power duo!)
Fort Rock Park, Sunriver, Oregon
Thursday, July 17, 4:00–8:00 PM (or until the last kid is sugar-crashing from Costco cookies)
HOW TO ARRIVE IN STYLE
-
By Car: Yes, we have actual parking! No need to park a mile away and pretend it's "a nice walk."
-
By Bike: Burn some calories before you pile-drive mac and cheese. The park is bike-friendly—handlebar streamers optional, but encouraged.
WHAT’S HAPPENING & WHEN
DINNER AT 5 PM
GAMES AT 6 PM
MEMORIES MADE UNTIL SUNSET (and possibly beyond)
MENU: A Feast Fit for BBQ Royalty
Thanks to the flavor wizards at Bleu Bite Catering
Adult Menu:
-
Bourbon Molasses Pulled Pork – Like a warm hug from a Southern grandma.
-
Vegetarian Option – Because plants have feelings too. Delicious ones.
-
Apple Slaw – Crunchy, sweet, and just a tad more refined than “coleslaw.”
-
Creamy Mac and Cheese – Say goodbye to your dignity, say hello to thirds.
-
Herb Roasted Vegetables – For those who pretend this balances out the mac.
-
Mixed Greens Salad – With grapefruit, avocado & sunflower seeds. It’s giving “spa day in a bowl.”
-
Local Baked Breads – Like carbs? You’re in the right place.
-
Beverages: Sodas, sparkling water, and iced water (because hydration is the vibe).
Kid’s Menu:
-
Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla (with sour cream & salsa — flavor blast!)
-
Garden Salad (or as kids call it, “filler before dessert”)
-
Fresh Fruit Salad (nature’s candy!)
-
Tortilla Chips – Crunch, munch, repeat.
DESSERT
Costco Cookies – You know them. You love them.
Note: These cookies may cause spontaneous applause and/or black-market cookie trades.
GAME TIME: 6 PM – Glory Awaits
Get ready to compete in the Fort Rock Family Games, where the rules are flexible, but the fun is mandatory.
-
Water Balloon Toss – Get wet or go home.
-
Kickball – All the drama of the World Cup, but with flip-flops.
-
Sand Volleyball – Bump, set, hope your cousin doesn’t spike you in the face.
-
Basketball – For the competitive, the coordinated, and the casually confident.
BONUS PARK FEATURES
-
Kid’s Playground – Let 'em run wild while you pretend not to check your phone.
-
Wear Layers – It's Oregon. Could be sunny, could be snowing. Could be both.
-
Bring Chairs & Blankets – Because sitting on pinecones is a memory no one wants.
FINAL THOUGHTS
It’s BBQ #2 — not just a number, but a state of mind.
Come for the pork, stay for the people, leave with cookie crumbs on your shirt and stories to tell.
See you at Fort Rock Park — where friendships are rekindled, games are played, and cheese is melted.
