Join us from 7:00 to 8:00pm on July 16th for an engaging presentation exploring the prehistoric petroglyphs of the Lower Susquehanna River. Through the questions What, Where, Who, Why, and When, this guided discussion will examine the remarkable rock carvings once found at Bald Friar Ford along the border of Harford and Cecil Counties. Attendees will learn about the distinct styles of petroglyphs identified in the Lower Susquehanna River Basin, compare them with those from the Allegheny and Monongahela watersheds, and hear a compelling new theory on the cultural significance of the Bald Friar site, supported by archaeological evidence, artifact analysis, and interpretations of the individual carvings.

The program will be led by Dan Coates, who brings more than 25 years of experience in local archaeology. He serves as curator of the Prehistoric Culture exhibits at Liriodendron and the Upper Bay Museum in North East. Guests will also receive handouts and a guide to nearby petroglyph locations, making it easy to continue exploring the rich prehistoric heritage of the Lower Susquehanna region after the program.
