Welcome to my Cross for LifeFlight Fundraising Page!
Between August 1 and August 31, I will be doing my own Crossing to support LifeFlight of Maine, a challenge that will symbolize the difficulties of providing lifesaving emergency medical care to Maine's many island and rural communities.
LifeFlight of Maine is a nonprofit organization and the state’s only emergency medical helicopter service. With three helicopters, an airplane and ground ambulances, LifeFlight brings ICU-level care directly to the patient. As Maine’s only air ambulance service, LifeFlight has served more than 40,000 patients, one life at a time, from every community and hospital in the state.
When I was 5 years old, LifeFlight saved my life after a plane crash in Kezar Lake. I was trapped inside the plane, underwater, for anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes (no one knows exactly how long). After being resuscitated on the bow of a boat by a doctor who was vacationing from Boulder, CO, I was then transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center. While I have no memory of this day, I do know that I will forever be grateful to LifeFlight for getting me the advanced care I needed in a timely manner. Now, I am honored to be an employee of The LifeFlight Foundation as a development associate and our Grateful Patient Program coordinator. It is a privilege to be working for the organization that gave me a second chance at life.
I’m going to make my crossing to support this important cause. Won’t you support it, too? Just click on the “donate” button. Any amount is greatly appreciated
Thanks so much for supporting my efforts, and mostly, for supporting this critically important service.
