Our daughter, Mackenzie Corbin was a 2023 honors graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School, a Sophomore at Wilmington College, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield. As the baby of our family and the youngest of six girls, Mackenzie was God's blessing that completed our family perfectly. Mackenzie was a beautiful young woman with a smile that could light up any room, a contagious laugh, was humble, kind, loving, and had a passion to always help others. Mackenzie loved big and touched many lives in her nineteen years and is loved and missed by her family and friends so very much.
Mackenzie joined FFA in high school and found her passion, leading her to choose Agriculture Business as a field of study. Mackenzie was a two-year FFA chapter officer, participated in a variety of CDE teams and service projects, and earned many awards including the Ohio State FFA Degree, and the American FFA Degree, the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization and an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of members.
While attending Wilmington College, Mackenzie served as an ambassador, was an active member of Sigma Alpha, was Vice President for 4H Affairs for the Wilmington College Aggies, and was on the Dean's List. Mackenzie was living her best life! Unfortunately, on August 18th, 2024 our lives changed forever.
Mackenzie passed away unexpectedly as a result of bilateral pulmonary embolisms the day before starting her Sophomore year of classes.
As a way to honor Mackenzie's memory, our family started The Mackenzie Corbin FFA Memorial Scholarship and awarded scholarships to three very deserving recipients in April of last year. March is pulmonary embolism and blood clot awareness month and as the main fundraiser for the scholarship, we are having the 2nd Annual Mackenzie Corbin Memorial SK. Last year, we had just over four-hundred participants and our prayer is to see that number grow with each passing year as we continue our fund raising efforts to sustain the scholarship.
The SK is the main fund raiser for Mackenzie's memorial scholarship. We are asking businesses to please consider donating to this great cause in the way of items or monetary donations that will provide silent auction items, prizes that will be drawn and given to the SK participants, water/
snacks for participants, and to cover other expenses associated with the cost of having the SK. No donation is too small and all are appreciated. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
Sincerely,
Larry and Lisa Corbin
