Parking And Shuttle

Parking for all participants will be the LONG TERM PARKING of the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport. Our parking attendants will greet you at the gate you must show your bib so they know you are part of the event.

Once parked, proceed to our shuttle loading zone. You will be required to show your race BIB and a Government issued photo ID. 

 Please arrive early to ensure a smooth shuttle process to the Air Force Base.

The first shuttle bus will depart at 06:00 am
The last shuttle bus will depart at 07:30 am

**180 FW members will be parking on base. Additionally, 180 FW families may park on base ONLY if they are carpooling with their 180 FW member AND have proper ID to get onto base.

Security Forces will be out helping to control/direct people and cars.  Arrive earlier than normal to avoid the mass crowd.

Return trips to the airport will run until 10:30 am.

Back Packs & Gear Check

No back packs or duffle bags will be allowed on the busses (with the exception of diaper bags which will be searched). There will be a gear check area near the start line. Clear bags will be provided for you along with a white piece of paper.  Write your BIB number on the paper and place inside your bag. Show your BIB number to redeem post race.

Warm Ups

This is an active military base, so running around base without escort is prohibited. Therefore, we have arranged to have access to the path around the solar field for warm up running. Please do not run around base on roads other than those designated for your pre-race or post race warm up/cool down.

Rules of Engagement

This is an active military base with jets on alert status. Security of the base and runway are of utmost importance and will be monitored closely by Security Forces. Enjoy this unique opportunity to learn more about the men and women who protect us and this great nation by respecting the policies outlined below. Finally, make sure to tour the 9/11 Memorial while on base to fully appreciate the mission of our brave armed services.

Background Checks

All individuals who wish to participate and/or attend this mission, who are not military members/employees, or their dependents, at the 180th FW in a current active status, must consent to a criminal history/background check. At a minimum:

  1. Individuals must submit their full name, date of birth, social security number, and a copy of their driver’s license number or state ID number so the check can be accomplished.
  2. Individuals under the age of 16 will only need to submit a name for accountability purposes.

Prohibited Items

  1. To ensure no foreign objects interfere with jet engines, no jewelry may be worn. Watches and wedding bands are exceptions.
  2. Weighted Vests. We appreciate your ruggedness, but weighted vests are not allowed. 
  3. Guns. This is a government military installation. Concealed Carry doesn't apply. No weapons allowed. 

Course Limit

There is a strict 60 minute course limit for this 5K event. To allow time to ready the planes, all participants must be completed within the time limit allowed. A course sweep bus will accompany the race to assist anyone who falls behind pace.

Foreign Objects on Runway

To reduce the risk of foreign objects being left out on the line and ingested in the aircraft intakes, Runners, Walkers, and Volunteers should not wear jewelry (i.e. earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.) except for wedding rings or watches. Earbuds and headphones are permissible.
