🏃 Race Day Basics

What time should we arrive at the starting line?

• Arrive 15–25 minutes before your scheduled start time. First runners check in wearing safety gear and pick up the team’s slap bracelet.

What is the slap bracelet for?

• It contains your team’s timing chip and is passed between active runners. Teams will turn it in at the finish line.

Where is the start and finish?

• Start: AC Reynolds Middle School, 2 Rocket Drive, Asheville, NC
• Finish: Hampton Station, 1320 Hampton Ave Ext, Greenville, SC

🔐 Safety & Gear

What safety gear is required?

• Every team must have two sets of:
• • Reflective vest
  • Headlamp
  • Rear-facing blinking LED light
• Gear is mandatory before 7:30am and after 7pm, or in poor visibility.

Do we need to carry water?

• Yes! There are no water stations on the course. Runners must carry water if the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature reaches a threshold. You’ll be notified if that rule is activated.

🚐 Team Vehicles & Parking

How many team vehicles are allowed?

• One vehicle per team, clearly marked with the V2V hangtag.

Can we decorate our vans?

• Please do! Team spirit counts toward fun and contests! 🎉

🗺️ Navigating the Course

What is the RaceJoy app and how do we use it?

• RaceJoy offers GPS tracking, leg timing, and team progress alerts.
• All team members must:
  • Click “I Want to Be Tracked”
  • Select Relay Course
  • Add teammates and assign legs
  • Activate tracking only when starting your leg to save battery

Are directions available?

• Yes! Our website has a special "Race Day Guide" page for runners and vehicle routes. These routes link to directions you can use on your phone. 

🍴 Food & Hydration Stops

Will food be available on the course?

• Limited options:
  • Coffee & food trucks at select legs
  • A few convenience stores near transitions (like Reynolds Market and Corner Pantry)
  • Finish Line: Multiple food trucks + Yee-Haw Brewing!

Should we pack food?

• Definitely. It’s a pack-in/pack-out event, so stock your van!

• Saturday Morning Cartoons - Get ready to throw it back—this year’s relay theme is Saturday Morning Cartoons! Think Scooby-Doo, Rugrats, Ninja Turtles, or whatever you couldn’t wait to watch in your pajamas. Dress up, decorate those vans, and let’s bring our favorite cartoons to life out on the course!

🆘 Emergencies & Rules

What if someone gets injured?

• A teammate may substitute mid-leg. Notify V2V HQ and update your runner rotation.
