Memory Mile Wellness Challenge is a zero cost challenge but we graciously request a minimum $20 donation to the Alzheimer's Association.

All donations support the goal of the Alzheimer's Association to end Alzheimer's. Participate today to help find the first survivor.

Description

The Memory Mile Wellness Challenge is a month-long virtual event that helps create new, healthy habits or strengthen those existing habits while raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day.

Over 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, a brain disorder that causes a progressive decline in memory, thinking and learning.  This number is staggering but research suggests incorporating physical activity into your daily life may decrease your risk for the disease.  The research suggests, as little as 150 minutes a week (21 mins per day) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity and 2 days of strength training may reduce the risk for developing Alzheimer’s by up to 45%! This challenge is to promote that healthy habit.

Let's get moving and protect our brains!

  2. Donate to Alzheimer's Association - suggested $20 minimum  The Longest Day- Team Memory Mile

  4. Upload your minutes
  5. See if you can reach the goal 4 weeks in a row

On a personal note - our mom, Weezie, passed away in 2018 from Alzheimer's.  She was kindhearted, warm and loving.  During her battle with Alzheimer’s she may have forgotten people’s names, where she was going or what she was doing, but she always kept her gracious heart, her warm smile and her infectious laugh.

Weezie loved to walk. What better way to honor this wonderful woman than to organize a wellness challenge that will hopefully help others create and strenghten habits to reduce their risk for developing this dreadful disease and raise funds to put an end to the disease that took her life.
