Course Marshal

Details

The all-important course marshal works at intersections to ensure a smooth flow and positive interaction between runners and motor vehicles on the course. A smile and happy disposition to cheer on the runner and soothe the anxious driver is the main requirement.

The Marshal team is on duty from about 7:15 until the last runner passes that intersection. This team also has a lead and back of the pack escort to ensure that runners follow the marked course and to let everyone know when the runners have cleared a post. The amount of time needed is about 90 minutes depending on where the assignment is.

Start/Finish Line

Details

This includes registration, looking after the recycling and handing out materials (i.e. water!) to the runners as they finish. The start time is 30 minutes before the race and finishes 30 minutes after the last runner crosses the finish line. Generally, it would be 7am-9am.

Water Station

Details

Halfway through the course is a water station for the runners to hydrate as they push towards the finish. This station needs to be manned from 7:30 am to when the last runner passes by. The tasks are handing out cups of water and gathering the empty cups that miss the trash can as the runners go by.
