A semicolon tattoo symbolizes hope, resilience, and continuation in the face of mental health challenges, particularly suicide, depression, and self-harm. It represents a choice to live and keep going, similar to the grammatical semicolon that marks a pause in a sentence rather than an end. This tattoo serves as a powerful reminder of one’s inner strength and an enduring bond with a supportive community that understands and shares this journey.

This year, we continued that reminder of strength and resilience. Here is Hope;ink by the numbers:

About Jefferson Center

Celebrating our 67th year, Jefferson Center is a nonprofit, community-focused mental health care and substance use services provider. We offer hope and support to individuals and families who are struggling with mental health issues and substance use disorders. At Jefferson Center, it is our policy and our mission to be inclusive and mindful of the diversity of everyone who comes through our doors.

Jefferson Center has adopted the Zero Suicide policy. The foundational belief of Zero Suicide is that suicide deaths for individuals under the care of health and behavioral health systems are preventable, and it presents an aspirational framework toward safer suicide care. Zero Suicide is based on the realization that people experiencing suicidal thoughts and urges often fall through the cracks in health care systems. There is an opportunity to make a real difference by transforming how patients are screened and the care they receive.
