TICKET PROCEEDS PROJECT OPTIONS
Option 1: Waste Receptacles
Help keep Downtown Owosso clean and inviting! Selecting this option would direct Chocolate Walk proceeds toward purchasing additional decorative waste receptacles for pedestrian areas. These durable, weather-resistant receptacles are designed to withstand heavy use and large crowds without being moved, tipped over, or stolen—perfect for busy events like the Curwood Festival, Glow Owosso, and the Farmers Market.
Thanks to a generous Curwood Festival grant, Owosso Main Street is purchasing two new benches, and the Chocolate Walk funds could add two more waste receptacles to the same order. This addition reduces the need for staff to relocate existing benches and receptacles during events, saving time and resources while keeping downtown tidy and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
Option 2: Public Art Project
Selecting this option would reserve Chocolate Walk proceeds to support a future public art project in Downtown Owosso, such as a sculpture or mural. Public art enhances the downtown experience, creates a sense of place, and fosters community pride—goals highlighted in the Owosso Main Street Strategic Plan.
At this time, no specific artwork has been selected, and additional planning and funding would be needed before a project could move forward. Your vote helps ensure that the 2026 Chocolate Walk proceeds are set aside for public art, laying the groundwork for future projects that will make downtown more vibrant and inviting for residents and visitors alike.
Option 3: Main Street Plaza Landscaping
Selecting this option would direct Chocolate Walk proceeds toward enhancing the recently reconstructed planter in Main Street Plaza near Gilbert’s Hardware and Appliance Garden Center. While something will be added to the planter regardless, the funds from the Chocolate Walk would significantly expand our options for landscaping, allowing for a more vibrant and attractive display.
Proceeds could be used to add a mix of plants, flowers, or even a small sculpture, creating an attractive space for residents and visitors to enjoy. If an art element isn’t included, the funds may also allow for touch-ups to other landscaping areas in the plaza that need attention. Your vote helps make Main Street Plaza an even more inviting and enjoyable part of Downtown Owosso.
