The BFL Next Foundation Mission

The BFL Next Foundation, the charitable arm of the Beach Football League established in partnership with Athletes Charitable, is dedicated to creating meaningful community impact through sports, entertainment, health, and outreach initiatives.

Our mission is to support and collaborate with organizations that serve youth, at-risk communities, veterans, individuals with disabilities, health and wellness causes, and families in need. By leveraging the visibility and platform of the Beach Football League, The BFL Next Foundation seeks to provide funding, programming, experiences, and community engagement opportunities that inspire personal growth, inclusion, and positive social change. 

Through charitable events, partnerships, grants, mentorship programs, and community activations, The BFL Next Foundation aims to unite athletes, entertainers, brands, and local organizations in support of causes that strengthen communities and improve lives.

We are committed to building a culture where sports and entertainment become vehicles for opportunity, healing, empowerment, and impact for people of all backgrounds.

Tully Banta-Cain (Founder and CEO)

Tully Banta-Cain is a two-time Super Bowl Champion, entrepreneur, and the visionary founder behind the Beach Football League (BFL) and BFL Next Foundation.

Throughout his career Tully has believed in community service and has supported a wide range of nonprofit organizations including, NFL, Robert F Kennedy Human Rights, The Appendix Cancer Research Foundation, Patriots Foundation, and more.

After a dominant college career at UC Berkeley, Tully spent eight years in the NFL as a standout linebacker and pass-rusher for the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. As a vital piece of the Patriots' legendary championship culture, Tully learned firsthand what it takes to build elite teams, drive high performance, and captivate millions of fans worldwide.

Driven by an lifelong passion for innovation and sports entertainment, Tully envisioned a brand-new platform that combines the high-octane energy of tackle football with the electric atmosphere of beach culture. The result is the BFL—the world’s first-ever professional, full-contact on-sand football league.

As Founder and CEO, Tully brings his championship DNA, elite athletic insight, and entrepreneurial grit to the sand. His mission is simple: to revolutionize modern sports, create an unmatched high-energy experience for fans, and give next-level athletes a thrilling new stage to showcase their talents.

Jim Carroll ( Program Manager)

Jim Joined the BFL in 2025 as an advisor and is now assuming the role of Program Manager for the newly established BFL NEXT Foundation, the charitable arm of the Beach Football League.

Jim became an advocate for the Appendix Cancer community after losing his best friend Frank “Dutch” Culbertson in 2007. Following Dutch’s passing Dutch’s wife Judy Culbertson organized the first annual appendix cancer walk to raise money for Appendix Cancer research and education in Philadelphia, PA,

Jim subsequently Joined the ACPMP Research Foundation Board in 2009 and focused on fundraising and education. Jim assisted in planning, coordinating, and speaking at many of the early specialist and patient symposiums. Jim took over as Board President in 2022.

In addition to the ACPMP Research Foundation Jim has several years of Board experience with a Pa. based 501(C3) Charity-“Friends for Friends” that assists families in times of medical and financial crisis.

Jim has 45 years of experience in retail Loss Prevention and retired in 2024 as the Department Head of the Staples US Retail Loss Prevention Team where he led all Corporate and Field loss prevention department functions. Jim is a Charter member of the Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF). Jim has been a Certified Fraud Examiner since 1994 and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He was a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP); He served on the AP Leaders Council for the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and on the LP Leaders Council for the National Retail Federation (NRF).
