Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County is an initiative of New Albany Floyd County Education Foundation dedicated to alleviating childhood hunger in Floyd County, Indiana.
Just under 1 in 6 Floyd County children face food insecurity. When school dismisses on Friday, 38% of NAFCS pre-k through 8th grade students would leave their classroom unsure of whether they will have enough to eat until school starts again next Monday, if not for the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County.
Through donations from local individuals and companies, Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County is able to ensure that students in need don’t go hungry over the weekend and can return to school ready to learn. Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County serves children at all 9 NAFCS elementary schools and the 3 middle schools in our district.
