Event Description
The Big Dig of Northern Virginia, presented by Van Metre, is a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly event where kids (and kids at heart!) can climb into the driver’s seat and experience the thrill of operating real heavy machinery—like excavators, scissor lifts, and more—under the safe guidance of trained construction professionals.
Since launching in 2021, Big Dig NOVA has raised over $450,000 in the fight against pediatric cancer, becoming a beloved community tradition with a powerful mission. This year, we are proud to partner exclusively with Inova Children’s Hospital to support children and families in Northern Virginia facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Proceeds from the event will fund vital cancer care initiatives at Inova Children’s.

Each General Admission Ticket Includes:
- Admission to The Big Dig
- One lunch item
- One drink
- One dessert
- A safety vest for each participating child
Parking:
Free event parking is available at the following two locations:

Ashburn Recreation Center (21105 Coopers Hawk Drive, Ashburn, VA 20148) — A designated area of their lot is reserved for us, just a short walk from the event site.

Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm (42920 Broadlands Blvd, Broadlands, VA 20148) — Parking is available in the back lot.
An event shuttle will run between both parking areas and the event site to make it easy for participants to get to and from their cars.
