Join us for an inspiring evening at our 2nd annual "Back from the Brink: Saving the Blues" event at the Houston Zoo! Hear about exciting new developments in our conservation work to save the Blue-throated Macaw and to restore and protect the unique habitat it shares with many other threatened species.
Bird Endowment and Asociación Armonía proudly celebrate the remarkable comeback of the Blue-throated Macaw in its native Bolivia. Through our dedicated conservation efforts, the wild population of this critically endangered bird has grown from fewer than 100 to nearly 800 today!
In 2006, this exquisite bird’s twenty-year journey from the brink of extinction began when the late Laney Rickman, founder of Bird Endowment, and Bennett Hennessey of Armonía launched the Nido Adoptivo™ nest box project on working cattle ranches in Bolivia.
In 2018, the Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Reserve was established, marking a major milestone. This acquisition enabled us to expand our work beyond nest boxes to include habitat restoration, wildfire protection, reforestation, research, and education programs.
Bennett will share breathtaking videos from the Reserve, including ongoing efforts that safeguard not only the Blue-throated Macaw but also the many other threatened species within this unique habitat.
Enjoy delicious appetizers, wine, beer, and great company! Wear your BLUE for “The Blues” — casual attire.
Together, we are building a conservation success story—and you’re invited to be part of it!
