The Honor Network

The Honor Network Sponsored by Heidi Crawford Realtor

If you are not familiar with The Honor Network, it is kind of amazing!   The man who started The Honor Network, Tommy Maher, is a volunteer Firefighter and Fire Commissioner in New York and was personally affected by the horrific tragedy that took place in New York on September 11, 2001.   He began with Random Acts of Kindness after that, but it wasn’t until the mass shooting in Las Vegas On Oct. 1, 2017 that he began his movement.  After that tragedy where 58 people were killed, he was inspired to perform Random Acts of Kindness, traveling for 18 days and 9500 miles to the hometowns of each of the 58 victims calling it Honor 58, all funded with money from his own pocket!   Since then he has traveled to areas of school and mass shootings that have taken place, spreading love and kindness in different ways in those towns.  Tommy has driven and traveled across the country many times in the last 5 years honoring mass shooting victims in different ways. His goal is to show that love and kindness win over acts of evil as he performs Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) in honor of a victim asking the recipient to "Pay It Forward."  His RAOK's vary from giving a large tip to a waitress or paying someone's meal, or paying for an entire restaurant’s bill, paying for flowers ordered at a local florist, but one thing he ALWAYS does is do RAOK for local first responders!  He goes into the town, learns about the victim(s) and performs RAOK’s that he feels would be meaningful to that person.  Each time he provides a card showing who the RAOK is honoring and asks them to Pay It Forward and do something kind for someone else. When I met Tommy after he made his first trip honoring the victims of the Vegas shooting and he told me about his Kindness movement, I knew immediately that I had to help him raise money to continue the amazing work he is doing!  His goal is to always “BE THE GOOD” and inspire others to do the same!
