Workshop Details
Description:
Grieving the death of a loved one is a lifetime process. This interactive and experiential workshop explores three contemporary approaches to grief work relevant to assisting bereaved adults. These approaches form the basis of a small group role play of a practitioner engaging with an individual navigating a spousal, sibling, or child death. The knowledge and skill development opportunity will include practical strategies for interweaving the approaches with culturally diverse bereaved adults across the grief journey.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the relevance of understanding contemporary grief theory to competent practice.
2. Compare and contrast three contemporary grief theories.
3. Illustrate the use of contemporary grief theories in practice with adults of various cultures through a small group role-play.
