Description:
Missing persons due to war, natural disasters, catastrophic events, or kidnapping remain psychologically present in the minds of loved ones. Persons left behind often experience physical ambiguous loss in navigating the uncertainty and unanswerable questions of a loved one’s disappearance. The uniquely challenging loss heightens their potential for developing anxiety, depression, or rising family conflicts. This engaging, case-based workshop discusses physical ambiguous loss well-being advancing coping strategies and best practice treatment methods in strengthening tolerance among individuals of the missing.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define and discuss physical ambiguous loss.
2. Describe beneficial coping strategies for persons of the missing.
3. Explain best practice treatment methods in fostering tolerance of the unanswerable.
4. Apply the methods and strategies to practice using a case study.
