Our signature Good Morning Sports series returns on July 22 with Designing the Home Team: Storytelling, Strategy and the Making of a Sports Brand. From uniform design to campaign strategy, get an inside look at how Madison’s beloved teams craft brand identities that fire up their fans. Our panel of pros will share strategies that shape loyalty and deepen the bond between teams and the communities that rally behind them. 


Meet the Panelists: 

  • Bianca Miceli is the marketing and communications manager for League One Volleyball, where she leads digital strategy and brand storytelling. She previously spent a decade with Wisconsin Athletics developing student athlete narratives, managing social media and producing multimedia content across multiple programs. 

  • Mark Schmitz is the founder and chief experience director of ZEBRADOG, an experiential design studio he has led since 1993 to create immersive storytelling environments across the country. His work translates complex ideas into spatial narratives for museums, universities, athletic facilities and public spaces, including projects for Duke University, Lambeau Field and the University of Wisconsin. 

  • Emily Steele, president of Planet Propaganda, brings more than 20 years of advertising experience with deep expertise in brand strategy for companies navigating growth and transition. She leads Account Service, Strategy, New Business and Operations, drawing on a career shaped by major national brands across food, beverage, retail and sports. 

  • Vern Stenman is the president of Big Top Sports and a driving force behind Madison’s summertime sports scene, helping bring the Madison Mallards, Madison Night Mares and Forward Madison FC to life. His promotional vision has transformed the Duck Pond at Warner Park and Breese Stevens Field into beloved community venues.

Good Morning Sports

Good Morning Sports, previously known as Morning Sports Report, is an event series presented by the Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) bringing you behind the scenes stories from some of the most fascinating people in the industry. The events will feature the opportunity to meet and mingle with sports notables and like-minded community members who appreciate the energy, pride, tradition and ambition that combine to make athletics a beloved business. 

Event registrations will have an optional donation which will benefit the MASC Youth Grant, a program that funds Dane County organizations and clubs that connect youth ages 17 and younger to sports activities that teach leadership, teamwork and provide lifelong physical and mental health benefits.
