The Kuru Grounds 

The forest now called The Kuru Grounds was once the hidden ritual site of a sect that believed the land itself was a living, hungry spirit. They named it Kuru — “the ground that remembers.” And they fed it until it woke.

Their rituals carved deep scars into the trees. Their chants soaked into the soil. Locals claimed the forest changed around them — paths twisting overnight, shadows gathering in places where no light should have reached. Some said the trees leaned in to listen. Others swore the ground felt warm, as if something beneath it was breathing.

Then came the final night. A ritual meant to bind the cult to the forest forever. At dawn, every member was gone. No remains. No signs of escape. Only deeper carvings in the bark and a silence so heavy it felt like the woods were holding their breath.

Since that night, the forest has never been still. Visitors report footsteps behind them, whispers threading through the branches, and the sense that something unseen is circling just out of view. Animals avoid the area entirely. Even the wind seems to move around it.

Whatever the cult awakened didn’t die with them.

It stayed.

It watches.

It waits.

Science, once the beacon of progress, was pushed far beyond its limits… into territory where no rules apply. Creatures, horrifying and unnatural, emerged from twisted experiments. And when the poisoning began—when containment failed—terror spread like wildfire.  

Inmates. Staff. No one was spared. The labs turned deadly, and now only traces of screams remain within these shattered walls.
