Meet at the Amsterdam Dunes Preservation Area, N479 Westshore Dr, Cedar Grove at 8:45 am to convene before heading down the road to the research station. Experience the process of baiting and banding hawks at one of the oldest continuous hawk banding operations in the United States, with over 44,000 bandings completed over the last 70 years. Take advantage of the rare opportunity to learn more about this remarkable research station with limited public access. Hawk viewing is not guaranteed; however, a full tour and presentation by experienced researchers and volunteers is included. All proceeds directly benefit the Cedar Grove Ornithological Research Station. Advanced registration is required and limited to adults only. Research station is a rustic facility with uneven terrain and Port-a-Potty facilities. Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle, binoculars, and camera if you have them. Inclement weather will cause this program to be rescheduled at at date and time that works for the Research Center.
Please note all attendees of this program must be 18 years old or older.
