Event Description
Step into a little‑known chapter of American history at History & Coffee in the Morning.
On Thursday, June 11 at 10:00 AM, author Shirley Wesselhoeft shares the extraordinary true story behind Wesselhoeft: Traded to the Enemy, a book she and her husband, Adolf “Wes” Wesselhoeft, began together before she completed it in his honor.
Wes was born in Chicago, an American child living an ordinary life… until December 7, 1941, changed everything. Because his parents were still German citizens, the family was swept into a wartime world few Americans even know existed. What happened next is a story of fear, resilience, survival, and in the end, patriotism for a birth country. One that challenges what we think we know about WWII. yet revealing a side of the war many have never heard about.
Reservations required. $5 per person. Doors open at 9:30 AM with coffee and pastries. Stay afterward for the book signing, copies available for $20.
