Event Description
North Carolina–based Americana/folk songwriter A. Lee Edwards has spent three decades crafting spare, honest songs that take time and courage to write. Best known for his work with Chocolate USA, Lou Ford, and The Loudermilks, he now channels a hard-won, reflective perspective into his most personal records yet: Interpreting Heart Sounds, Vol. I and Vol. II.
Vol. II strips things back to Edwards’ self-taught fingerpicking, rounded out by strings, and was mixed by the legendary John Wood (Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, Richard & Linda Thompson). Tender, unflinching, and rooted in integrity, these songs sit at the intersection of Americana, early Beach Boys/Big Star pop sensibility, and lived experience.
"In a fair world, Interpreting Heart Sounds will help get A. Lee Edwards not only listened to, but recognized and respected. In a just world, they’d see him revered." – Glide Magazine
"An authentic Americana sound that brings to mind the Flying Burrito Brothers or the Dillards, had each been fronted by Townes Van Zandt." – Goldmine Magazine
“A. Lee Edwards delivers songs with the quiet confidence of a writer who’s lived them — rich in melody, honesty, and the kind of Southern soul that never goes out of style.”
