The Options
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and it means that you pay ahead for a share of the harvest that you will pick up throughout our season. Community Supported Agriculture also means that you participate in the risks as well as the rewards of the harvest season. There are no guarantees and no refunds if catastrophic weather events or other unforeseen circumstances occur and severely damage or wipe out our crop. So far we haven't had a year that our CSA customers have been hugely impacted by such an event. Your support that comes months before our harvest season helps us to employ great people and purchase the materials we need to care for our crop. Thank you for considering being part of our CSA program!
This year we are offering two CSA options:
Option 1 is our Fruit Club (Mixed Fruit Share)
In past years we have called this our Mixed Fruit Share, but this year we're calling it our Fruit Club! This means that each week, you pick up a curated bag of what is at peak ripeness. Keep in mind we are primarily an apple orchard, growing over 40 different varieties, so the majority of your share will be apples. We also grow pears, plums, peaches and nectarines and we include as many different types of fruit as we can early in the season when they are available. Each week we set aside the best of the best for our Fruit Club members and you will get a weekly email reminder with pick-up information and the specifics of what will be in your bag that week. We try to include some cooking ideas and interesting facts as well.
Our Fruit Club runs for 11 weeks. We anticipate this year's CSA to run from August 15th to November 2nd, but we will keep you updated as we get closer to harvest season. Plan on visiting the orchard weekly between Friday and Sunday from mid-August to late-October. You can pick up your weekly bag starting at 9:00 AM Friday morning through our open hours until 5:00 PM Sunday evening (including all day Saturday). If you can't make it to a pick-up just let us know and we can hold on to your share for you. Any bags that aren't collected by Monday morning are donated to the Sanford Food Pantry unless we hear from you.
Each Fruit Club member also receives a 10% discount card good on any extra fruit (either from our Farm Store or u-pick) and apple cider..
We have two bag sizes:
LARGE*: 1/2 peck bag containing ~ 5 pounds of fruit weekly $175
SMALL*: 1/4 peck bag containing ~ 2.5 pounds of fruit weekly $95
*For our former CSA customers, the Large bag is the same size as a Full Share and the Small bag is the same size as a Half Share in past years.
Option 2 is Orchard Credit
This is the first year that we will be offering a pre-paid credit style CSA option that functions like a gift card and will allow you to purchase exactly what you’d like during the season (August thru October) with no weekly commitment. Orchard Credit can be used to purchase our tree fruit and raspberries (u-pick or pre-picked from our Farm Store) and apple cider. Your pre-season purchase of Orchard Credit comes with an extra 10% for you to spend as our way of saying thank you for your support!
We have two credit tiers:
$110 Orchard Credit (you pay $100)
$165 Orchard Credit (you pay $150)
You will also be signed up to receive our weekly orchard newsletter so you are updated on the new fruits and varieties that will be available for picking or purchasing throughout the season.
