Mission:
The North Brunswick Drama Group provides the opportunity for participants to create high
quality, educational, and accessible theater productions in a welcoming, supportive, no-cut
environment through two annual main stage productions and additional special projects.

History:
Since its founding in 1970, the North Brunswick Drama Group (NBDG) has produced over 50
years of exceptional community theater at the North Brunswick Township High School. The
program started with one annual production in March and after five years added a young adult
program with annual summer productions. In the summer of 2023, the program produced its
first mainstage production since the Covid-19 pandemic. For the first time, the program
included all ages from 13-99. The production gave parents and children a chance to participate
in theater together; something none of them had been able to in other theater groups.

Goals:
While the main goal and purpose of any theater company is to create high quality productions;
for NBDG it is equally important to make those productions accessible for participants and
audiences alike. No-cost no-cut theater programs allow for people from all walks of life to
participate. This allows for low-income individuals to participate without the burden of a
participation fee like many other programs charge. Additionally, as a no-cut program, actors are
not discriminated against for lack of experience or neruodivergency. In the summer of 2023
alone, there were several participants who had never participated in any theater programs
before and others struggle with things such as autism, agoraphobia, ADHD, etc. It’s important to
the NBDG team that all productions are welcoming and accommodating to all participants and
their unique needs.
