Event Description
Join us from 7:30 to 10:00 pm at the Susquehannock Wildlife Conservation Center for an evening walk through forest and meadow as we experience one of nature’s most captivating displays, the glowing bioluminescent dance of the Eastern Firefly. These tiny native beetles use their natural light to communicate, creating a spectacular nighttime symphony across the landscape.
During the hike, we’ll discuss simple ways to make your backyard more welcoming to fireflies and explore the fascinating world of local nocturnal wildlife. Along the way, we’ll stop at our stargazing and wildlife viewing platform to listen for species such as Gray Treefrogs, Owls, and Coyotes beneath the night sky.
After the hike, guests are invited to gather around the campfire ring for s’mores, conversation, and stories about our ongoing work conserving local wildlife and habitats.
This event is weather and firefly dependent, our rain date will be TBD.
Tickets are $10 for each adult and $5 per child plus fees, donations are appreciated! Event is limited due to parking and seating at our campfire ring, first come first served (please use link to purchase online).
We will meet in front the red barn at 7:30pm, provide a brief tour of our new exhibit space while talking about species we hope to see. Then we will hike along forest and meadow, then up to the hilltop wildlife viewing platform. Our trails are not paved so please wear sturdy shoes. We will end the evening with a campfire to enjoy some s'mores and close out the event.
Parking is limited so please carpool if possible.
The Susquehannock Wildlife Conservation Center property is not yet open to the public and is only open for special events such as this one at this time.
