FAQs
WHAT IS THE MIMINUM AGE FOR DECORATORS?
• Only volunteers 12 years or older may participate. Teenage volunteers may be asked to show school identification or a driver's license as proof of age.
WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINK AT FLOAT DECORATING?
• No food or drink will be provided to decorators so we suggest you bring your own water and snacks that can be consumed outside of the actual decorating area. No food or drink is allowed in the decorating barn.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY DECORATING SHIFT?
• Layered, old and warm clothing is most appropriate for decorating. Tasks may require climbing on the float or scaffolding; consider the flexibility your clothing allows and whether it could get easily snagged. Night shifts can get very cold.
• OLDLRP Decorating shirts will be provided to each volunteer (one per season regardless of the number of shifts worked) upon check-in. We request that you wear this shirt over all other clothing during the shift as it unifies our crew and sends a strong message when media are filming. It also helps our crew chiefs identify our volunteers.
• Because of the work environment, we recommend that you wear long-sleeved shirts that can be worn under the OLDLRP decorating shirts and taken off as needed. If you are easily chilled or working a night shift, bring a heavier sweatshirt, pullover or jacket. Gloves, scarves and hats may also be appropriate.
• Long hair should be tied back; you may wish to wear a hat or cap to keep hair out of your face.
• Tennis shoes or shoes with sole grip and a secure fit must be worn. No UGGS, flip-flops, or boots may be worn for safety reasons.
IS THERE A PLACE TO STORE MY BELONGINGS DURING MY DECORATING SHIFT?
• Instead of carrying a purse, consider placing valuables in a fanny pack that can be worn at all times. We do not have a secure area to store valuables and staff/crew will not hold nor be responsible for volunteers' personal items.
CAN I BRING MY CAMERA DURING MY DECORATING SHIFT?
• Cameras are permitted but must be kept with the volunteer at all times.
