Person-Centered End-of-Life Communication Strategies

Thu May 2, 2024 Live Remote via Zoom 9am- 12pm EST
Newville, PA 17241 US

Workshop Details:

Description:

Practitioners' end-of-life communication practices influence the quality of care and bereavement experience for terminally ill patients and their families. This interactive and experiential workshop explores the latest research in end-of-life communication strategies for healthcare providers. These communication skills and process tasks form the basis of a small group role-play of a practitioner conveying health or treatment status changes to a terminally ill adult or their family. The knowledge and skill development opportunity will include practical approaches for incorporating the strategies into practice with culturally diverse patients and families.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the relevance of the latest end-of-life communication strategies to quality care.

2. Explain the seven themes of communication strategies to incorporate into end of life conversations.

3. Compose an interaction with a terminally ill adult or their family using the strategies in a small group role-play format.
