About the Organization:
Steve and Emily Goudy started the Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer Calendar and Human Ribbon in 2010 after one of Emily’s closest friends shared that her sister was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. This news hit very close to home, as Emily’s sister was the same age and they had also been childhood friends. At that moment Emily decided she wanted to do more and brought that news to Steve and the idea for the calendar and human ribbon were born.
Over the past several years they have worked very closely with the St. Clair County Community Foundation donating to different community breast cancer funds.
In 2014, they were able to start the “Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” Fund within the Community Foundation. With their own fund established they have been able to donate over $85,000 to local hospitals and other non-profit organizations assisting breast cancer patients in the community.
"We are extremely grateful and humbled by the support of the community over the last several years and look forward to many more years of hard work and helping those in St. Clair County battle Breast Cancer."
The mission of Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer is to provide support for breast cancer screening, treatment, education, or related initiatives for breast cancer patients receiving treatment in Saint Clair County, Michigan.
