Prolonged Grief Disorder Treatment

Tue June 18, 2024 Live Webinar 9:30am - 12:30pm EST
Newville, PA 17241 US

Workshop Information:

Description:

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed., text rev.) (DSM-5-TR) includes the new diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder (PGD). This workshop explores the disorder among survivors of a traumatic death and best practices in PGD treatment in connection with the dual process model of coping with bereavement. In applying the practices and model professionally, attendees will construct a case study of an interaction with a spouse or adult child following a suicide or homicide death in the family.

Learning Objectives:

        1.  Distinguish between normal manifestations of grief and prolonged grief disorder.

        2.  Examine the dual process model in connection with PGD treatment.

        3.  Construct a case study integrating the model into practice.
