Summit Metro Parks, the Summit Metro Parks Foundation, and Summit County Probate Court are partnering to offer a free outdoor wedding ceremony and vow renewal for Summit County residents at Himelright Lodge in the Valley View Area of Cascade Valley Metro Park (1212 Cuyahoga St., Akron). This outdoor wedding event will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Summit County Probate Court Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer performing the ceremony. Registration is required for this free event and is limited to 30 couples.
One registration is required per couple, and couples are welcome to invite a maximum of 10 guests in total to observe their nuptials. The event will take place in an outdoor setting featuring beautiful park views or inside the Himelright Lodge in the event of inclement weather. Couples should arrive no later than 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
To commemorate the ceremony, Summit Metro Parks Foundation will provide a sapling tree for each couple to plant at home in honor of their marriage. Live music will be provided for the ceremony.
Couples must obtain a marriage license from the Summit County Probate Court before the ceremony at the Summit County Court House (209 S. High St., Akron). The Summit County Court House is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. To allow time to process your application and issue a license, please arrive at the court no later than 3:30 p.m. For details on obtaining your marriage license, go tosummitohioprobate.com.
