Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Quiz? A Quiz competition is an un-mounted team knowledge competition that tests the member’s knowledge through answering oral questions, matching items to their names, or actually completing a task such as putting a bridle back together. Some of the areas that may be tested are the rulebooks for the various Pony Club disciplines, horse management manual & rulebook, the PC manuals, health, fox hunting, trailering, bits, safety, nutrition and confirmation. You may be asked to identify horse parts, show how to load a horse or decide if the grain in a bottle is oats or senior feed. Most of the questions are hands-on questions. This is a great way to learn more and test your horse knowledge skills. (Also a fun team-building experience!)

What does this mean that this is a “Qualifying” rally? Every other year, Rocky Mountain Region sends a Team(s) to represent our Region at the USPC National Championships where members compete against kids all over the Nation. There are also opportunities for individuals to be selected to go on to represent the US Team at the International PC Championships! Those members who want to qualify for RMR Quiz Regional team at the 2026 USPC Championships this year should ask your DC/CA to indicate your intent on the Team entry form.  Be sure to check your family’s calendar to make sure you are available to attend.

What if I take a Certification Testing and pass after Quiz but before Championships? If you are a D-2 HM at this Quiz rally and then take your D-3 HM certification, you are a D-2HM for Championships.

What if I don’t want to Qualify? Then just come with your teammates and have fun!

How do I tell the Region I WANT to try to Qualify? Be sure to let your DC / CA know so they can be sure to represent you!

What are the Championship Divisions so I can qualify? Competitors seeking to attend Championships must meet the age parameters and minimum certifications for their desired competition level as listed below.

Novice D   D-2 & D-3 HM        age 10-11
Junior D    D-2 & D-3 HM        age 12-17
Senior D    D-2 & D-3 HM        age 18+
Novice C   C-1 HM & Up         age 10-11
Junior C & Up C-1 HM – H-A              age 12-17
Senior C & Up C-1 HM – H-A              age 18+
Note: Per USPC - Championship divisions can be combined based on entry numbers and approval from Vice President of Activities (VPA) and the overall organizer. There are no age and no certification exceptions.

Championships Eligibility Process: Each individual Pony Club member who desires to compete at Championships must compete in a standard rally and be judged at the minimum Horse Management certification and the same competition level in which they intend to compete at Championships. This constitutes the “individual eligibility” of the competitor, and there are no exceptions to minimum age or certification requirements.

How do I know if I Qualified after the Rally? The Rally Secretary or Regional Officers will make an announcement the week after the Rally is completed to announce who is eligible and then you should log-on to the USPC portal and keep an eye out for further instructions from the USPC for Championship Registration instructions.
