Event Description
WHAT IS CELEBRATE TRAILS DAY?
Hosted on the fourth Saturday of April, Celebrate Trails Day is an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by Rails to Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems.
We're fortunate to have some wonderful trails in the Springfield area. As a way of giving back and celebrating our local trails, as well as helping out the various organizations that maintain the trails, plans are in the works to host a cleanup day on April 26.
SCHEDULE
Wabash Trail. The Wabash Trail is in need of some TLC in the form of trash pickup. We'll meet at 8 AM at the parking lot behind Sonic and work on this trail to remove debris and prepare the trail for the 2025 season. The Springfield Park District will provide trash bags and some tools for picking up litter. PLEASE BRING WORK GLOVES!
Depending on turnout, we may develop more than one team of volunteers and work on the Sangamon Valley Trail to remove branches and litter.
