Welcoming the Class of 2025

Join us for the 10th Annual Scena Awards! Since 2015, these awards have recognized excellence in running and volunteering in the Bay Area trail running community. Each year, we give 3 awards:

  • The Christine Chapon Award, to recognize a rising star. We refer to this award as The Frenchie
  • The Stan Jensen Award, to recognize a long history of running and service. We refer to this award as The Legend
  • The Carol LaPlant Award, to recognize runners who have created a legacy in running here and how who were part of the birth of Bay Area ultrarunning. We refer to this award as The GOAT

The Christine Chapon Award

Join us in recognizing Tuvshin Sukhbaatar and Zagdaa Bataar for all their effort bringing runners together through the Nomadic Adventure Club.

Not only have then brought dozens of Mongolian runners into trailrunning, they have also supported runs through relentless volunteering.

In a short time, Tuvshin and Zagdaa have become some of the most active runners and organizers in our area. And their work is just beginning.

The Stan Jensen Award

Join us in celebrating Jean Pommier. Jean has been a key athlete in Bay Area ultrarunning for the last 20 years. He has also distringuished himself by documenting his training and racing through his blog, FartherFaster, which is a wellspring of helfpul information.

And that's a lot.

But the added things that truly makes Jean a Legend in our sport is his many years as stewards of the PA-MUT Grand Prix. This has involved endless and completely thankless coordination that only an ultrarunner would take on!

The Carol LaPlant Award

Join us in celebrating Charles Savage for his truly amazing -- and still ongoing -- career as an ultrarunnner. Before many of you were born, he was at it, including running in the original Skyline 50k 45 years ago. He has since run 18 more times!

Charles' achievements and durability includes 20 Western States finishes and much much more.
