What is SciFlix?
SciFlix is a community outreach effort designed to openly and honestly discuss science, theories, and ethics in popular fiction. Films begin at 6:30 p.m. in Regnier Hall Auditorium. Following the film, our moderator will introduce a panel of experts who provide their reactions to the film along with an audience Q&A session.

Our first movie this season is Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Will Rodman (James Franco), a scientist in San Francisco, is experimenting with a drug that he hopes will cure his father's (John Lithgow) Alzheimer's disease. After his work is deemed a failure, Will becomes the guardian of Caesar, an infant chimp who was exposed in-utero to Will's drug. Rated PG-13, 1 hour 45 minutes. 2011

Ph.D. candidate Kathleen Rust, who studies aspects of early primate evolution, especially as they relate to primate sensory evolution.
Ph.D. candidate Kevin Mulcahey, who studies Paleogene mammal evolution and systematics.
