What is SciFlix?

SciFlix is a community outreach effort designed to openly and honestly discuss science, theories, and ethics in popular fiction. Films begin at 6:30 p.m. in Regnier Hall Auditorium. Following the film, our moderator will introduce a panel of experts who provide their reactions to the film along with an audience Q&A session.

Eternal Sunshine is a science‑fiction–infused romantic drama centered on a couple, played by Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, who decide to erase their memories of each other following a painful breakup. The film’s title is drawn from Alexander Pope’s 1717 poem Eloisa to Abelard. Blending psychological drama with science‑fiction elements and a nonlinear storyline, the movie delves into the complexities of memory, heartbreak, and enduring love.

In the 2005 Academy Awards, Eternal Sunshine won Best Writing, Orignal Screenplay and Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress.
