What are the Rules?

Rules for the Tournament

Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the Tournament Director. Decisions of the Tournament Director, Erica DeLana, are final in all matters and are not subject to appeal.

1 boat per tournament entry/registration fee. 1 boat is a "team".

This is a boating and sporting fundraising event. It is limited to fish caught with rod and reel from aboard a specific team boat registered in the competition. All contestants must have a valid Georgia fishing license. All state game and fish laws must be obeyed. Unless required by law, there is no limit to the number of rods in a boat. However, US Coast Guard Safety requirements must be followed.

Fish entered must only be caught from Lake Lanier. The boundaries of Lake Lanier shall be defined as navigable waters to include rivers and creeks leading to Lake Lanier.

Any species of the Striped Bass family (Striped Bass, Hybrid, White Bass) may be measured. There is no limit to the number of fish you can catch and measure since this is a catch and release tournament. Only the two longest fish shall be counted for the competition.

***Placement will be awarded to teams registering the most inches for (2) fish in the Striped Bass Family. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive a trophy, as will the "big fish" winner.

You must sign up and pay for the Tournament at  on or before the day of the Tournament. Please contact Erica or Mary if you are interested in paying via cash or check.  Register BY MARCH 7th to be guaranteed a tournament shirt with your entry. You may not fish until payment has been received. *Advanced registration is greatly appreciated to ensure we're able to properly accommodate all of our wonderful participants.

"Lines in" will be at safelight, which is usually around 6:45a.m. this time of year. As we are allowing participants to launch from sites other than Little Hall, a unique tournament identifier will be sent out just prior to launch time and MUST be present in ALL submitted pictures for the picture to be eligible. The identifier will be sent out via email to the boat captains and posted to our Facebook event page "Team Maggie's Dream - 7th Annual Striper Tournament". If you do not receive it or have technical difficulties, call Erica (678-357-0389) or Mary (678-977-5755).

All fishermen shall use a Measuring Board; a "Check-it Stik" or similar is fine. The board should be at least 36" and have a bump piece for the nose. If your board is too short for the fish, please show the additional length with a tape measure.

At or just prior to the start of the tournament, all Participants/Captains will be given a Special Tournament Number via text message; it will also be posted to Facebook. This number must be displayed on the pictures of the fish. Make sure the card doesn't interfere with the measurement. If you didn't receive a number, it is your responsibility to call for the number. Call Erica at 678-357-0389.All fish will be measured in the same manner. The nose of the fish must be touching the front of the measuring device at the 0" mark. The measurement is made to the tip of the tail. Measurements are calculated to the nearest 1/4 of an inch.

Each Captain will be responsible for bringing a Digital Camera (cell phone is acceptable). Make sure there are working batteries. Once the fish is laid on the measuring board, the Captain or crew shall take a picture showing the nose of the fish touching "0" and the tip of the tail touching a specific measurement. The Special Tournament Number must be displayed be visible in the picture. The Numbers shall not be placed in a manner where the fish or measurement becomes unidentifiable. Generally, the Numbers should be placed in the middle of the fish on the belly, or just at the top of the fish laying on the deck.

Once a picture is taken, it is the Captains responsibility to determine if the picture is clear. If the measurement is not visible while zooming in on the picture, the Captain should retake the picture until a visible picture is achieved. Once a clear picture meeting the measurement requirements has been obtained, the fish may be released to live another day.*THIS IS A CATCH & RELEASE TOURNAMENT*

In the case of a tie, the longest fish of both teams will determine the place. If the teams are still tied, the second longest fish will be used. If still tied, the tiebreaker will be determined by a coin toss.
