Giving Tuesday: FC Cincinnati star joins United Way to buy gifts for local families
CINCINNATI —
Nov. 2 is Giving Tuesday, a national day dedicated to generosity and community support.
One local program is helping make the season brighter for families in need.
The United Way of Greater Cincinnati's ‘Adopt-A-Family Program’ pairs volunteers with local families to make sure every child has a gift this holiday season.
This year, one FC Cincinnati star is giving back.
“Hopefully I get some time off at a beach or something, but today, it's a beautiful day in Cincinnati,” said defender Miles Robinson. “Some snow has hit the ground. I'm excited for today.”
Robinson is stepping off the pitch and into the toy aisle. But he’s not shopping for himself.
“I'm excited to give back to some families and to go shopping,” Robinson said.
He’s partnering with the program to provide gifts for two families this holiday season.
“I think that’s what the holidays are all about is giving back to those in need,” Robinson said. “I'm given this great opportunity and the means to give back, so I want to.”
Organizers say that with community partners like FC Cincinnati, and athletes like Robinson, more families will feel that support this season.
