Join Clay Rose, Daniel Rodriguez, Alexa Wildish, Charlie Rose, Nadine Sekerez, Dave O'Dell, and Jason Hicks as they guide songwriters of all levels through the multi-directional process of songwriting.

The retreat will have about 30 participants total. Workshop sessions have 15 when there are 2 groups and 10 when there are 3 groups. 

The weekend will be structured yet flexible, allowing freedom of flow. 
Returning attendees will build on prior experiences, gaining direction and renewed inspiration.

We aim to cultivate awareness of the internal conditions that invite inspiration, the phases of songwriting, and the interplay between intention and motivation.

• Thursday begins with an elective workshop led by Charlie Rose. In the evening, we will enjoy a Listening Show at Lonigan's, when Charlie, Alexa, Clay, and Daniel share songs they have written.
• Friday's Theme: Receiving and Harvesting External and/or Internal Input for songs
• Saturday's Theme: Commit to finishing a song
• Sunday's Theme: Release it to the Universe – A Day in Lyons (Each songwriter (up to 25) records single scratch tracks at Animal Lane Studio with Davey Diamonds and Charlie Rose)

Optional Signup to Perform on Sunday: If you would like to perform at one of the venues (TBD) in Lyons, we ask that you submit a performance video. This can be recorded with your phone and does not have to be at a venue. 

Note: We have a cap of about 30 songwriters. There will not be recording slots for each songwriter, and be first to sign up and fill the slots. You can choose to remain in the Control Room, learning the engineering and production aspects of recording if you wish, or receive credit for one Sunday Elective Workshop instead of recording or control room slots.

For New Songwriters
Reduce overwhelm and help them notice sensory details, emotions, and inner thoughts, and explore the Seven Songwriting Paths as a way to give structure and focus. Facilitators support them in shaping what resonates into lyrics, melody, or song structure, while encouraging them to finish a song.

For Seasoned Songwriters
Explore new creative perspectives or refine awareness of some structures or methods they probably already use, but encourage noticing ones they may have underutilized by opening more to the senses and reflecting on how the chosen Songwriting Path shapes the song, and experimenting with layering paths or revisiting Receiving. Expand rather than restrict intuitive writing. 

Electives are offered to supplement the retreat. They have a cap of 6 per workshop

Looking for a scholarship?

Some generous organizations will be donating Scholarships--we do not have a fixed number on that yet. There will be a $15 application fee to cover the administrative cost of managing the applications. This will apply towards your tuition if you are NOT awarded a scholarship and register for full tuition. We work very hard to get these scholarships each year, as well.

An alternative to a scholarship

We have a donation option. Donors can either donate to a general fund to help us award scholarships (We still will not be the ones deciding who gets ANY scholarship to alleviate favoritism or being "pitched" to. We have eliminated installments and are passing on the processing fee to the purchaser

BEFORE PURCHASING TUITION

This event follows the standard industry policy that tickets are non-refundable with some caveats: All ticket purchases are 100% non-refundable after January 1st, but you may be able to receive credit for SnowyGrass Music Festival at our discretion. There will be no provision for postponing attendance or receiving credit for any other year's tuition.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

Cancellation is defined as notifying the Retreat that you will not attend for the year in which you purchased tickets. There is no provision for postponement without forfeiture of some or all tuition.

Retreat tuition spots may be transferred to a new attendee prior to January 1st for a $50 fee.
