North Coast Tempo

About Us: We are a mixed chorus (maybe VLQ) We started this to have some fun and become better singers, closer to home. As time has gone by we have recruited members from all around the community (church choirs, friends, friends of family). We love to sing, we love to share the craft, and we love giving back to the community. We rehearse once a week as a chorus, but our Director Rich Kihlken has the rehearsal space open for whenever anyone wants to come in and rehearse as a quartet or even just as a sectional. Since we started we have done a lot of sing-outs at all sorts of events, but this last winter we put together our first actual show! "Christmas in December" where we were able to make perform the song "Rawhide" as a Christmas song, as we were rounding up Santa's reindeer. It was a great event that raised some money for the local food pantry.

North Coast Tempo - Quartets

Mixatones: The first mixed quartet that sprung up out of North Coast Tempo

Jim Deer, Richard Kihlken, Jeff Steinmetz, & Mary Dorko

PB & J: We have been singing together for many years in different chorus' and quartet combinations. But finally the Tenor has carved out enough time in his work week for the quartet to come together

Jim Deer, Richard Kihlken, Jeff Steinmetz, & Jason Barton-Kashmer

Crosstown

About Us: Crosstown are Paul Russell, Tenor. Tim Cogley, Lead. Marty Hibbard, Bari. And Michael Gilmore, Bass.  Our name was inspired by the fact that we come from various points around central Ohio; Newark, London, Gahanna and Westerville, respectively. We are proud to have been crowned the 2024 JAD Senior Quartet champions

Lake Plains Chorus

About Us:

The Fostoria Lake Plains Chorus began in 1962, headed by Dick Lee, Larry Strahm, Glenn Quisinberry, and other men who loved to harmonize. The original music director was Howard Reddick. He was Followed by Fred Schmidt, who led the chorus from 1967 to 2017. Since then, we have been led by Benji Cates, Mark Statler, and our current director, Kerry Conrad. Some early chapter quartets included the The Four Winds, the Elks Club Four, the Seneca Lads, and the Bar-B-Que 4.

Our first shows were held in the old Fostoria High School auditorium, but we quickly made the “new” Performing Arts Center our home when it opened.

Our chapter has performed all over this part of Ohio, at every county fair in our territory, local celebrations, concerts in the park, church services, funerals, virtually anywhere you can fit a group of guys and gals and a pitchpipe.

In our shows, we have hosted a number of International Champion quartets from both the Barbershop Harmony Society and from Sweet Adelines International, and several of them graced our stage more than once: The Auto Towners (1966 champs), The Sounds of Music (SAI – ’74), Happiness Emporium (’75 – twice), The Rapscallions (’84), Acoustix (’90), The Ritz (’91), Swing Street (SAI-’91 – 3 times), Gas House Gang (’93), Jokers Wild (’94), The Real Deal (’94 college champs), Yesteryear (’97 – twice), Revival (’98), FRED (’99), Four Voices (2002), Vocal Spectrum (’06), Max Q (’07), Crossroads (’09), Old School (’11), Forefront (’16), and Quorum (’22). We also hosted a special show with the Suntones(1961) and the Bluegrass Student Union (1978).

This chapter has been around for a long time, and now also includes several female singers. We will continue to bring you the best “G-rated” entertainment in the barbershop style! We welcome everyone in harmony.

Director - Kerry Conrad

Note To Self

About Us: Note to Self is a lively all-female barbershop quartet made up of Betsy, Cindy, Richele, and Gabby. With a shared love for singing, laughing, and tacos, they bring harmony to every stage. Recently earning third place at Sweet Adelines Region 17, they’re proving that great music (and great tacos) go hand in hand!

Used Chord Salesmen

About Us: Used Chord Salesmen - because you’ve definitely heard those chords before… but maybe not in the same order! UCS’ forte is selling songs and stories (both old and new) to their audiences,  a combination of “the old songs” and some newer, more familiar ones, too. Formed in March 2023, UCS is devoted to finding and reselling beautiful old barbershop chords to people and groups all over! Each member travels up to 2 hours to rehearsal in Avon Lake, halfway between all four. (Thanks, Jane & Stu Sheard!) But distance does not interfere with their love of close harmony and friendship. The Used Chord Salesmen guarantee they’ve got something in their inventory for everyone!

Relatively new to barbershop, tenor Roger Gill is a member of the Voices of Harmony chorus, as well as lending his voice to several other singing groups in the Toledo area. A retired high school music teacher, he spends his summers in Jamestown, New York, working as a volunteer with the Chautauqua Institution (and sings opera in his spare time). Roger and husband Phil live in Toledo, OH.

Harry Haflett is the lead and has sung in a few quartets during his 30+ years with the Barbershop Harmony Society (some of which were OK). Most notably, he was the baritone of Hot Air Buffoons, a nationally-known (for the wrong reasons) comedy quartet and international qualifier. Harry is a member of the Men of Independence chorus and chapter. He and his wife Cheryll reside in Mentor, OH.

Singing baritone is Dave Evans (a 50+ year member of the Barbershop Harmony
Society). He comes from a family of barbershop singers (a few of which were good). Having performed in many different quartets and choruses, he is currently a member (and former director) of the Canton Hall of Fame chorus. Dave and wife, Debbie, live in Orrville, OH.

Jon Bell sings bass, mostly because he’s better at it than the rest of them. Jon is a founding member of the Voices of Harmony chorus (and current president of the chapter). A 39+ year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, he also has sung in many different quartets during his barbershop career (several of which were decent). Jon and wife, Patti, live in Sylvania, OH.

About Us: TMS has been leaving audiences in a state of awe for over 10 years now. Well at least their mouths are open and eyes wide with wonder and we have only had few complaints. We enjoy sharing our brand with new audiences and old friends as well. Tom, Brian, Nate, and Chad enjoy sharing our gifts at a variety of events and venues, so sit back and enjoy.

Intermission

About Us: Intermission was formed in Spring 2024 and competed for the first time at the 2024 JAD Fall Contest where they walked away from that contest as the JAD 3rd Place Quartet and Open Quartet Champion. Since then, Intermission has performed alongside The Alliance at their chapter shows while continuing to prepare for their next contest opportunity. They're so happy to be here with The Voices of Harmony and to sing for you!

Snyder University

About Us: Greetings, gentle patrons of profound performance! Tonight, we present a peculiar, preeminent performance from the Snyder Family, also known by their highly prestigious, personal paradigm of pedagogy: Snyder University! Not a real place, perhaps, but a powerful, pervasive presence, proving productive progress since two thousand thirteen!

Behold, the bona fide barbershopper, CC Snyder! This magnificent man, masterfully molding musical magic, proudly produces the pivotal lead part. He is a diligent director of choruses, a shrewd, substantial small business statesman, and the paramount president of the Barbershop Harmony Society's illustrious Johnny Appleseed District!

Beside him, with bountiful, brilliant belting, stands the cherished, capable, and charming Chrissy Snyder! This marvelous matriarch, mother of many, leads her lively troop of ladies of American Heritage Girls, and, most monumentally, maintains masterful, meticulous methods as the primary purveyor of parental education for our promising progeny.

Then, the deep-toned dynamo Ashton Snyder, whose booming bass provides the backbone! Beyond his bountiful basso, this bright boy bravely balances bewildering bachelor's books in music, brilliantly broadening his burgeoning business by baking bountiful batches of buttery donuts and briskly delivering delightful delicacies for Door Dash!

And finally, the bold, bravura baritone, Chase Snyder! A precise, powerful purveyor of pugilistic prowess, he practices martial arts with meritorious might, and prepares to plunge purposefully into political science this fall.

Indeed, each of these captivating, courageous crooners possesses a Black Belt! We proudly proclaim this peculiar, paramount point: we are, quite conceivably, the only quartet in the whole wide world wielding such wonderful, warring wisdom! Prepare for a performance of powerful parts and palpable passion!

Pride of Toledo

About Us: Pride of Toledo is all about making beautiful music together in the barbershop style. Members come from not just the Toledo area, but Angola, Indiana, Michigan, and all of northwest Ohio, to sing with this fun, loving group of ladies.  With a great deal of hard work, laughter and love, the group meets each Tuesday night at 1400 Cass Road, Ohio beginning at 7 P.M. Many generations come together and share this art form and we still have a place for all women on our risers. The Director runs an exciting rehearsal with all genres of music being sung.  This Chorus has won many awards through the Sweet Adelines International organization and has traveled all over the United States to share this hobby.
