Come get up close and personal with HOT AIR BALLOONS at the return of Wind Vineyards Hot Air Balloon Festival November 14 and 15!

 

This exciting 2 day event will feature a balloon glow, tethered rides, chartered flights, vendor fair, live music, kid activities, and much more!

 

Friday night the Balloons will create an extraordinary scene as they fire up and "glow" just after sunset! Come see the balloons, take photos, and enjoy other attractions such as a vendor fair, live music, and enjoy our Jump Pad and other activities for kids! Grape Crusher Monster Ride Truck will be giving rides all evening. The event kicks off at 3pm and will run until 9pm when the winery closes. Note that the balloon glow will be near sunset and not last all evening.

 

On Saturday, gates open at 2:00pm for an entire afternoon of fun! Live music will be on our big concert stage! Enjoy food trucks and all kinds of beverages! A vendor fair will be available for your shopping pleasure. Grape Crusher Monster Ride Truck will be thrilling riders. Come meet the pilots and check out their balloons or take a tethered balloon ride! A limited number of charter balloon flights will be available. This event will go until 6:30pm with balloons scheduled for either a glow or flight late in the day (weather permitting). 

 

Please note this event is rain or shine. We reserve the right to postpone or reschedule the show to maintain the safety our attendees and participants. ALL HOT AIR BALLON ACTIVITIES ARE WEATHER DEPENDENT!

99% of questions can be answered and 99% of any issues/complaints can be avoided by READING THIS POST!

Before we start, let’s recite together the MOST critical information:
1) There will be NO BALLOONS inflated as soon as the gates open!
2) Balloons are WEATHER DEPENDENT—we are not God and do not control the weather!
3) If balloons are not inflated, the reason is because weather conditions are not appropriate

Can I avoid the couple dollars of service fees from the online sales?
Absolutely! Just pay cash at the gate!

Do I need to bring cash?
We do accept credit cards but ask that you bring CASH for faster service. We usually have a “cash only” line when busy to get you back to enjoying the show faster!

What ages need a ticket?
Under 3 is free, 3-10 needs a kid ticket, and everyone else is a general admission ticket.

Can I get tickets at the gate?
Popularity is soaring (thanks!) but we can handle a lot of guests so we WILL have tickets at the gate. Do note that they will be full price ($25 for kids and $30 for adults) and CASH ONLY

What is included with admission?
Everything except food, drink, or rides (tethered, charter, or monster truck). Those are additional cost. Buy admission tickets here:


Will balloons be up when the gates open?
NO!!! If you come in when the gates open you may buy food and drinks, sip wine, shop vendors, enjoy activities, claim your spot, listen to music, etc but THERE WILL BE NO BALLOONS UP WHEN THE GATES OPEN!The walk balloon and tethered ballon are SCHEDULED to go up at 4pm to 5pm both days—WEATHER PERMITTING! We MIGHT fly out a few balloons near that time and the glow will be near sunset, beginning about 30 minutes prior and going to 30 minutes afterwards. All balloons will be DONE FOR THE EVENING after the glow ends, with the exception of the tether which will *potentially* stay up later if folks want to ride. BALLOONS ARE PRIMARILY LATER IN THE EVENING

How much are rides on Grape Crusher Monster Ride Truck?
$15 cash/$17 card and purchased onsite both Friday and Saturday

How do I get tether ride tickets?
Tethered ride tickets are $25 (I believe—the balloonist handle this) and purchased at the event.

How do I get a chartered flight and how much are they?
Charter flights are $400–there may still be a few available and you can apply here:

Will wine be available?
Of course! All day, every day and even after the balloons come down for the night!

Can I bring chairs, blankets, strollers, and/or tents?
Absolutely! We always welcome you to bring these things to make you as comfortable as possible while you enjoy our events!

Do I need a clear bag?
For the safety of everyone and at the request of our security a CLEAR BAG POLICY is in effect (to include purses and diaper bags) If you must bring a bag and do not have a clear one we sell them at the gate for $10 as a courtesy to our guests.

Is this weather dependent?
It looks currently like we may have windows for some balloon fun! With that said, ALL BALLOON ACTIVITIES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING!

Can I bring my dog?
We love our dog to but this event is strictly NO PETS! True service animals (but not emotional support animals or therapy animals) are always permitted.

Can I bring outside food or drink? What about water?
For several reasons, outside food and drink is not allowed. There will be several food trucks and we have most every type of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink you could want!

What is there for kids to do?
Weather permitting, we plan to have our large jump pad our on Saturday only! Our monster ride truck will be available both days do go along with vendors, music, food, and balloons.

Is there a monster truck show?
Walking Tall Monster Truck is on vacation for this event so no monster truck jumping the school bus this time. BUT, Grape Crusher will be giving rides both days AND we do have a FULL MONSTER TRUCK SHOW September 12 & 13!

Can I camp or leave my car?
Dry camping (tent, RV, camper, etc) is available for $30/night. You must check in and get a mirror tag to place in your vehicle. If you need to leave a vehicle, special permission must be obtained. All vehicles without a camping pass displayed more than 30 minutes after the show concludes are subject to being towed!

Can I leave and re-enter?
There is no re-entry into this event.

Who is responsible for my well being?
You are solely responsible for yourself. This is an agritourism event which means (in short) per Virginia law, the owners, promoters, performers, and other entities associated have no liability for injury or death occurring as a result of you attending this event. Signs are posted everywhere in accordance with Virginia state law. If you do not accept the risks and inherent danger from coming to a working farm, DO NOT ATTEND.

Because there is a 100% chance of FUN! It would be easier to list the reason why you should NOT come…
