Event Description
Coach Rousey, our certified run coach, has put together an easy-to-follow plan that mixes walking, jogging, and running to help you build up your stamina—the perfect program if you're new to running, getting back into running, or are a recreational runner looking for others like yourself.
We’ll meet for regular training sessions where you'll get to know other beginning runners, ask questions, and learn the basics in a fun, low-pressure setting. We’ll chat about what to wear, what to eat, how to pace yourself, and how to avoid injuries. You’ll also get tips on gear like shoes and GPS watches, plus running form, etiquette, and more.
The group meet at FlatTop Pizza, 600 West F Street, at 11:30am every Sunday from 6/22 until 8/17 when the Anchorage RunFest 5K is held. By the end of the eight-week program, you’ll be ready (and excited!) to cross the finish line at the Anchorage Runfest 5K.
This program is sponsored by the Anchorage Running Club and Coach Rousey. Participants of the Zero to 5K challenge, after successfully completing the program, will be offered either a free club membership or a $20 off an Anchorage RunFest race in 2025.
