Twenty years ago, the Richmond SPCA boldly adopted a no-kill operating model and pledged to save the life of every healthy and treatably sick or injured homeless animal in our care. Saving thousands of lives while expanding our mission has been deeply rewarding work that we are eager to celebrate with our community. To that end, we invite animal lovers young and old to join us for a celebratory block party with a retro theme.
Hosted on the grounds of the Richmond SPCA, the day will feature live music, beer/wine trucks, food trucks, special activities for animal lovers of all ages, and a variety of vendors in our pet-friendly marketplace. Join us for a fun celebration with a nostalgic vibe that takes you on a journey through time to remember the pop culture dominating your radio, CD player, television, and closet 20 years ago.
What will the day be like?
So glad you asked! We will have bands, food trucks, beer and wine, a vendor fair, and activities for pets and kids. Our adoption center will also be open if you are looking to bring home a new family member!
What does it cost to attend?
Ticket sales are $8 before the event, $10 at the gate, and free for children 12 and under.
How do I purchase a ticket?
We hope you will join us by purchasing your ticket online before the event. Day-of tickets can also be purchased online or at the event. Please bring a credit or debit card to make your purchase.
What will you do if it rains?
Don’t say it! We are excited to celebrate with you on June 4. If the weather is truly inclement, we will see you in September for our alternate date-- September 10, 2022. Tickets will be transferrable to our rain date. All sales are final. In the event you cannot attend, your ticket sale will support our charitable programs.

Will food and drinks be available for purchase?
Yes. Food trucks will attend our Marketplace. Water will be available for purchase from our food truck vendors, but you are also welcome to bring your own water from home. Please, no glass containers.
How do I become a sponsor?
Thanks for asking! Sponsors receive a variety of benefits in addition to being part of this lifesaving fun. If you are interested in being a sponsor or having a vendor table in our "Not the Mall" Maker's Market, please contact Laurie Mavica, Manager of Events.
What will the $$ raised support?
Sponsorship and ticket sales directly support the lifesaving programs at the Richmond SPCA. Each year, we save around 3,500 pets through rescue, recovery, and adoption. In addition, we serve thousands of pet lovers with programs like our pet pantry, behavior helpline, and low-cost Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital.
What is our goal and how is it reached?
Our primary goal is to share this celebratory moment with our community- the adopters, donors, volunteers, clients, and friends who made this milestone possible. Our financial goal for the Block Party is to raise $40,000 to offset the cost of the event. Net proceeds will benefit all programs at the Richmond SPCA.
