Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is the celebrated creative hub where award-winning artists and makers have created hundreds of the world’s most famous puppet characters, including stars from Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas, and many more.
New York City is the original and longest home to the workshop and specializes in the renowned Henson style of puppets and walk-around characters.
Your approximately 80-minute tour includes exclusive photo opportunities with beloved characters, a live puppetry demonstration from an actual Henson puppeteer, a meet and greet with one of the Creature Shop's talented puppet builders — and a few other special surprises along the way.

THE EXPERIENCE
Enjoy a truly unique opportunity to tour Jim Henson’s Creature Shop,the elite puppet-building workshop in Queens, New York City, where legendary characters from film and television have been created and built for decades.
The approximately 80-minute tour includes a walk-through of the award-winning Jim Henson's Creature Shop, founded by legendary puppeteer and director Jim Henson, as well as special photo opportunities with beloved and iconic characters, a puppetry demonstration from an actual Henson puppeteer, a meet and greet with one of Jim Henson's Creature Shop’s talented puppet builders, and special surprises.
Elevated custom VIP tours also available.
All ticket sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable.
Photography, video, and recording will be restricted in certain parts of the tour.
Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Touring Jim Henson’s Creature Shop includes a behind-the-scenes look at the art of puppetry and puppet building and may not be suitable for all ages. Children under 4 are not permitted.
We suggest arriving 10–15 minutes before your tour time. Our welcome area has seating and a complimentary coat and bag check. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals.

Transit: Less than 2 blocks from the R train at 36th Street in Queens.
Parking: Inexpensive parking is available less than 1 block across Northern Blvd on Steinway St.
We want to ensure everyone can enjoy this experience! We’ve designed the tour path and spaces to be welcoming to guests who use wheelchairs, scooters, and other aides. The restroom facilities are also accessible.
The general entrance for the tours has stairs, but the building’s main entrance (next door) has a lift that’ll connect to our welcome area. The front desk attendant will assist with the transition. Once you’re in the welcome area, the tour moves via elevator to the fourth floor, where the rest of the experience takes place without any further level changes.
