Kick off your Fourth of July with a peaceful morning on the water at our Fishing Derby! Bring your catch to Dock 86 between 5:00–11:00 a.m. to weigh and measure it at our self-serve station. Prizes go to the top three biggest fish in two age groups: under 14 and 14+.
Thanks to the Young family for hosting! Prizes will be announced closer to the event.
During the event we kindly ask all other boats (Fishing Derby participants as well as spectators) to observe a NO-WAKE policy to help maintain smooth, flat water for the skiers participating in the SWEVE event. This may require idling or briefly shifting in and out of gear while moving.
Lake Sawyer Swerve Waterski Run
8AM - Dock #81
We’re thrilled to bring back a long-lost Lake Sawyer tradition— kicking off Independence Day with an early morning waterski run. Join us for a holiday ski run on calm, glassy waters!
This special event will feature individual skiers, one at a time, showcasing their skills. Each skier will begin at the mid-point of the lake, ski down to the south end for a brief rest, then return to the mid-point to finish their run. Only one skier will be on the water at a time to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all. There is no slalom competition element, we are swerving for big spray style points. All ability levels welcome.
A waterski boat and tow rope will be provided—just bring your slalom ski and life jacket, and join us for a fun and memorable start to the 4th of July! Please Pre-Register Online.
Spectator boats are welcome to join and enjoy the event— please watch from a safe distance outside the designated boat path.
During the event, we kindly ask all other boats on the lake to observe a NO-WAKE policy to help maintain smooth, flat water for the skiers. This may require idling or briefly shifting in and out of gear while moving.

Boat Parade 5PM
5:00PM - Dock #188
In celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday, the theme for the Lake Sawyer 4th of July Boat Parade is “America the Beautiful.” This year’s parade will serve as a heartfelt patriotic tribute to the nation’s breathtaking landscapes, remarkable achievements, and defining moments in history.
From sea to shining sea, participants are encouraged to honor the spirit, resilience, and unity that have shaped America over the past two and a half centuries.
This theme invites boaters to showcase the rich heritage and enduring ideals of freedom, innovation, and community that make the nation unique. Decorations may reflect iconic landmarks, historical milestones, cultural traditions, military service, and the natural beauty that has inspired generations. Whether highlighting the pioneers who forged new paths, the events that strengthened our democracy, or the shared values that continue to bring people together, each entry will contribute to a vibrant and meaningful celebration.
“America the Beautiful” is not only a reflection of the nation’s past, but also a celebration of its present and future—a reminder of the pride, gratitude, and hope that unite us all as we honor 250 years of the American story.
