Distance: 1-Mile OR 2-Mile Swim Race

Description: One-Mile acute triangular-shaped out and back course. 2-MILE SWIM IS TWO LAPS. Please see course map below.
Water Start: Swimmers will start in waves. Wave assignments will be published in the week preceding the swim. Event is net-timed. There is no penalty for starting in a later wave.
 
Online Registration Fees:
  • 1 Miler: November, 2025 – April 30th, 2026, $45. May 1, $55
  • 2 Miler: November, 2025 – April 30th , 2026, $60. May 1, $65
The Glen Lake Swim is sanctioned by USMS (sanction #026-W001), therefore USMS membership is a requirement, if you are not a member, a one-day membership can be purchased as part of the registration process for $20. (Why USMS?)
 
  • Online registration closes at midnight on August 13, or when capacity is reached. There will be no raceday registration.
  • Field limited to 200 Swimmers
Awards: Awards will go to the First Three Overall Male and Female finishers in wetsuit and non-wetsuitdivisions in both the 1-Mile and 2-Mile races, including some very special "Glennie" memorabilia. Top three male and female in both wetsuit and non-wetsuit divisions in both races will receive gift certificates from some of our sponsors.
 
Age Group Awards: (both Male & Female): 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ (wetsuit & skins combined)

Minutiae:
  • Only registered swimmers are allowed to compete
  • Water temperature has historically been 70 degrees or above
  • Wetsuits are allowed, unless the water temperature exceeds 78 degrees (per USMS rule)
  • Swim tow buoys will be allowed at the swimmer's discretion
  • Other assistive devices, including masks, fins, snorkels, and paddles are NOT allowed
  • Swimmers are NOT permitted to wear headphones during the race
  • USMS membership is required. Day-long membership is $20 and can be purchased as part of the online registration
  • Age requirement: 18 years minimum
  • Kayakers will provide support during the race
  • Bright colored swim caps will be provided and must be worn for safety reasons
  • Mandatory Athlete check-in from 7:00am to 8:00am, please bring a photo ID
  • Pre-race warmup starts at 8:00am, announcements at 8:15am, In-water start 8:30am
  • Bag-check available
  • Outstanding post-race buffet
  • "Mini-Expo" at the venue following the race
  • CAUTION - This swim is not for novices; this event is for experienced swimmers only. To participate, you should be able to swim one mile comfortably in 45 minutes or less. The race director reserves the right to pull swimmers from the water who cannot complete the course in a reasonable amount of time. Note: Swimmers may encounter sticks, twigs, and other random objects in the water.
Race Status: The race will be held rain or shine, however adverse conditions such as lightning, thick fog, unhealthy water conditions, or other factors beyond our control could lead to delay or cancellation. In the event of an unexpected circumstance affecting the event we will send out an email to registered participants and place a message on this website.
 
Fun Stuff: Please be on the lookout for Glennie, our resident lake monster, and possibly a vicious cormorant or two. There will be great awards, goodies, fabulous food and a post-race party, as well as bragging rights for Swimming With Glennie!

Directions

Participant parking is at Goffstown High School, 27 Wallace Rd., Goffstown NH 03045. The event venue is the Goffstown Recreation Department, across Mast Street from the east end of the GHS parking lot. Parking at the event venue is restricted to volunteers.
 
From the East
101 W / 293 past the Mall of NH to Bedford and the 101/114 intersection. Go through the intersection on to 114 N. At the fourth set of lights go left, Staying on 114 N, pass the Grassmere County Complex and continue through the next light. GHS is approximately 3 miles. Turn left on Wallace Road at the round about. The school is located on the left. Bear left into the parking lot.

From the West
Follow 101E to Bedford. At the intersection of Wallace Road and 101E, take a left onto Wallace Road. Continue straight through three stops signs on Wallace Road into Goffstown. Goffstown High School is on the right, just near the end of Wallace Road. Turn right and bear left into the parking lot.

From I-89 North
Take I-89 S to exit 2, Clinton Street. Bear left off the exit, onto route 13. Follow for 7 miles to the yellow blinking light, turning left onto route 13. Follow for 10 miles into Goffstown. Continue past St. Lawrence Church on the left and the Exxon Station on the right. Wallace Road is the third right after the Exxon station. There is a round about at the entrance to Wallace Road. Bear left into the parking lot.

From I-93 North
Take I-89 N to exit 2, Clinton Street. Follow the above directions from I-89 S.

From I-93 South
Bear left onto 293 going past the Mall NH. Bear left on to 101 W to 114 N. Follow the same directions as when coming from the east.
