2025 is our 20TH YEAR OF WEDNESDAY NIGHT MTB RACES!!!!. Can you believe it? 20 YEARS!!!! Thanks to all who have raced with us over the years! If you are new to our little Series of Wednesday night fun, welcome!!
This is a race series for EVERYONE! As long as you have a bicycle worthy of being ridden on dirt, and can pedal it, you can do this! If you are a pro, it’s great for training. If you are new to Mountain Biking and/or Riverside State Park, it’s a great way to learn the trails and make new friends.
We use the term “race” loosely. We are all about fun and keeping it simple! Come out on Wednesday Nights and ride your bike. Pedal as hard as you want or casually if you want. If pedaling casually, do keep in mind that it will eventually get dark! New course every week. Random prize drawings and cold drinks will be waiting for you at the Finish Line.

REGISTRATION AND NUMBER PLATE PICKUP: Registration/Payment is online only . And if you are reading this, you have found the correct spot to register. Scroll up and choose the correct date. You will also purchase a number plate during the registration process. The number plate is yours for each race you participate in. Replacements are $5. You can pick up your number on the first night you race. After that, provided you hold on to your number, you only need to register online, and then show up to race. No need to check in again. There will be a number plate "pick up event" at Uprise Brewing April 30th. Details TBD, look to our FB page for announcements.
**Please make sure you register before racing. We can tell if someone has raced and not registered, and you risk being banned from the Series if in fact you are truly poaching the race. Poaching is not cool, so please don't do it.**
Be sure to stick around after your race and enjoy a compimentary beverage.
***ALL ADULT BEVERAGES MUST REMAIN IN YOUR AREA OR IN THE BEER GARDEN. IF YOU WALK AROUND WITH AN OPEN CONTAINER, YOU WILL BE ENCOURAGING A VISIT WITH THE RANGER!!!***
The water source at the Park came up contaminted in a test conducted this Spring. The water spigot will be out of order. We will have limited water, please plan accordingly.
Is my child old enough for this activity? Every year we get this question, and the answer is your child must be able to ride around the course unaided, without parent supervision. You are welcome to ride with your child, as a paid participant, but we ask all others to stay clear of the course for other riders.
GETTING THERE: Racing takes place in Riverside State Park, at the 7 Mile Airstrip. To get there, get yourself to either Francis Ave (west), or Assembly St. (north). Where Francis and Assembly join, continue north on Hwy 291 to 7 Mile Rd. Turn left (west) on 7 Mile Rd, and follow it approximately 1 mile, turning left (south) at the first road after you cross over the Spokane River. From there, you are very close, follow the signs to the venue parking area. For you extra savvy GPS folks....47°44'05"N, 117°31'07"W. Or... 8303 Riverside Park, yes, put it in just like that.
HOW IT WORKS: We have a different course each Wednesday that will challenge you in different ways. You will have the option of going 1 lap or 2 laps. Laps are typically 7-11 miles. The only “age groups” we do have are 14 & Under (Male & Female), 15-18 (Male & Female), 18-39 (Male & Female), 40-49 (Male + Female), 50-59 (Male + Female) and 60+ (Male + Female). Your age group will be determined by the age you are on the first night of the series. We will keep points for the entire series. Division Winners get prizes at the final party. There is an RFID timing tag on the back of your number plate. It will record your start and finish when you roll over the mats. All results will be posted to www.nsplit.com/results.
E-BIKES! E-bikes will be allowed their own race. It will be single lap only. And must begin between 5:30 and 5:35. No E-Bike starts after 5:35. No exceptions! No age groups (at least not this year) and there's no free registration for 18 & Under for E-bikes.
THE START AND SCORING: E-Bike start 5:30-5:35. Then open start line beginning at 5:35PM and closing at 6:20PM. This will accomodate the racers that prefer the individuial start. The start line will be closed from 6:20PM to 6:30PM, when we will then do a traditional mass start for those looking for a more competitive style of race. Mass start will be split into groups for safety if needed. You can choose each week when you want to start, either the open start or the mass start. Your timing chip will help us sort it out.
Scoring-all participants will be scored together in their respective divisions, regardless of start time. From the beginning of this race series, the goal was low key, simple racing on a Wednesday Night. We want to accomodate the open start and the mass start, based off feedback From you, but to keep it simple, everyone will be scored together.
SERIES POINTS-yes we will keep score and the top points winner in each division and age category will win an award. Points awarded as follows: 20pts for 1st Place, 19pts for 2nd, 18 for 3rd and so on, to 20th and beyond, and DNF get 1 point.
DISCOVER PASS: Riverside State Park is a Washington State Park, and requires a Discover Pass for parking. $35.00 for an Annual Pass that is good for two vehicles. You can buy one at a handful of places locally, or purchase online here: https://store.discoverpass.wa.gov/
VERY IMPORTANT STUFF:
Etiquette, Emergencies and Housekeeping: On course: please be respectful of other racers and other park users. We have a permit to race on the trails, not to close them to others. Be careful of your fellow racers. Don’t run over the top of slower racers. This is not the World Cup or any sort of qualifying for anything else. Please make sure you are hollering "on your left" or "on your right" when overtaking someone, and passing safely. And if you are being passed, please allow the "passer" to get by you when it is safe. And if someone is injured, please stop to help if necessary. On the back of each plate is a phone number to call in emergencies. If there is potential loss of life or limb, by all means call 911. But for non life threatening injuries, our medics will evacuate you from the course, and evaluate the need for futher care. If you have to call 911, please call the number (240-561-9920) as well so that we may direct fire/rescue when they arrive on site.
We strive to leave the area better than we found it when we came in. Please pick up any trash you find, whether it’s yours or not. Also, please be kind to the neighbors that live near the park. Please drive slow on the road on dry warm nights to help keep the dust to a minimum.
