About NWANA

The Nordic Walking Association of North America (NWANA) is a U.S. nonprofit public charity recognized under IRS Section 501(c)(3).

NWANA is building the structure for Nordic Walking to grow across North America as an organized sport, community activity, education pathway, and public-benefit movement.

This Federation Hub connects people and organizations to NWANA’s main development pathways: challenges, competitions, licenses, NW Groups, academy training, events, support funds, partners, and sponsors.

What NWANA Is Building

NWANA is working to develop the people, groups, events, standards, and systems needed for Nordic Walking to grow responsibly across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the wider North American region.

Our work includes education, community development, athlete participation, local group formation, competition development, licensing, event pathways, official results, future rankings, and long-term sport infrastructure.

Why Education and Local Groups Matter

Nordic Walking is still developing in much of North America. Before large-scale competition can grow, people need trained instructors, local leaders, active groups, safe technique, and places to begin near where they live.

That is why NWANA connects academy training, NW Groups, challenges, events, and competitions into one larger pathway.

How the NWANA Pathway Works

Education: Train instructors, coaches, judges, leaders, staff, and organizers.

Communities: Help local NW Groups, clubs, wellness groups, and community programs form and grow.

Participation: Give people ways to begin through challenges, events, and open community activity.

Sport Development: Build the pathway toward licenses, sanctioned competitions, official results, standings, rankings, and future championships.
