Spring in Paris
In April, we traveled to Paris for a six-day trip. I photographed different parts of the city and wanted to share some of my experiences.
On the first morning, I got up at 6:15 a.m. and ventured out past the Eiffel Tower toward the Bir-Hakeim Bridge. This bridge is very interesting from a photography standpoint. It has been featured in several movies and is unique because it has a metro line that runs above the bridge on an elevated platform.
I started out with some pictures before the sun came up, capturing views of the metro running over the bridge. I used a neutral density filter to create very long exposures, which blurred the train for a neat effect. I really like how this blurred effect works in conjunction with the river, which had a mirror-like surface and reflected the bridge. I was very pleased with how this image turned out.
The next stop on my morning walk was to photograph the Eiffel Tower from the bridge itself. The bridge has interesting columns that support the elevated metro platform running along its length. I strategically positioned my camera at an angle where those columns framed the Eiffel Tower. I also timed the shot just right so that the rising sun created a starburst effect. These images have a nice warm glow and a wonderful atmosphere surrounding the Eiffel Tower.
I also captured some beautiful images of the Eiffel Tower reflected in the river. Early in the morning, the water was very still and had a mirror-like appearance. Those photographs turned out very nicely as well.
I finished my morning walk by heading back to my Airbnb and picking up a cappuccino and a croissant from a local boulangerie. It was a very nice morning.
I have many more stories from our trip to Paris and lots of great photographs. I will share more soon. Thanks for reading. Darren
